Palomar Airport/Flightline Parcel
Dear Maryanne
On Tuesday March 13th the Carlsbad City Council held the Open Space report hearing. The city council accepted the report even in light of a lot of lobbying against many of the items on the list.
City staff were directed to contact landowners regarding their willingness to be part of the Open Space and to put together funding plans. We are asking you to help us have the county support the trail easement so when the city officially contacts them they can be counted on to support that and the parcel will stay on the active list.
I recall it mentioned that the county felt the Flightline/Airport Parcel was an island of county property surrounded by Carlsbad with no possible links to any county open space or trail system. For that reason it was suggested the property be managed by the City of Carlsbad. Could you help facilitate this by directing our efforts to the correct persons or county agency? The mountain bike community, hikers, runners, dog walkers, children and all the local resident outdoor lovers’ thank you ahead of time.
