La Costa Preserve
Hey guys, Here is another fight,
I used to practice downhill on a steep and rocky trails at la costa preserve, these trails was great because of some berms double jumps, litlle drops…etc.Recently all the fun is gone: the jumps and drops have been destroyed. I used to ride there once a week and I’ve never seen anybody but me on this trail, this trial is too steep and rocky for peds and to be riden from the bottom; pretty much an only downhill trail (the trail is marked as alloed to peds/horses and MTB) so I don’t see any reasons why these jumps have been destroyed. These trails are under the CNLM “protection” and there’s a meeeting regarding regulations in the preserve between users and probably somebody from CNLM It’s Saturday 3rd of March at 11am, at the bottom of the trail (Camino
PUBLIC MEETING AND RIDE – SATURDAY MARCH 3 AT 11AM
See the announcement below for an important trail meeting in the Carlsbad area. Rancho La Costa Conservation Area is located just east of Rancho Santa Fe Road and north of La Costa Ave (we called it Denk Mountain when we did trailwork there last year). If you use the trails in this area, don’t miss this important opportunity to discuss the trail system with the land managers. If you don’t know the trails here, come and check them out before the meeting. SDMBA will be leading a hilly intermediate to advanced ride starting at 9:00 a.m.
Meet at the corner of Calle Junipero and Camino Romera at 9:00.
From Highway 5, take La Costa Avenue east all the way to Rancho
Santa Fe Road and turn left. Go about ½ mile and turn right onto
Junipero. Take the first left onto Corte Romera and park here.
Please RSVP to Jessica at jvinje@cnlm.org or 760-784-0672 for the
meeting. Contact Minette@sdmba.com for questions about the ride.

You must be referring to MY hill? I have the fortune to live on Circulo Sequoia with an unobstructed view of the entire hill and her network of trails. I ride, run and hike these trails every other day and know the mountain like the back of my hand. I am also witness to the abuse and damage caused by motorcycles, people creating new trails and the knuckeheads who lock their back brake on the decents.
Although I have other volunteer obligations Sat. at 10:15 please count me in on any commitee/volunteer program to help protect this mountain. I’ve been mountain biking SD for 20 years, raced the NORBA circuit and unfortunately have seen most of the trails be consumed by developers. Granted it is my back yard, but we can not afford Denk Mt. to be another Flightline travesty.
I will be there Sat. am to introduce myself prior to your ride. Thereafter please feel free to contact me if I may be of any assistance. Plus I’d like any feedback on the topics of this meeting.
Sincerely,
Doug Strickland
