Press and Progress?
This was commented on the Riders Blog page but it is more about the Progress of saving flightline so I reposted it here.
Has there been any progress on getting something in the Local media? Papers or news?
We need to get the issue to more of the local public. We need to get someone involved with one of the papers to do an article that will portray us as good tax paying citizens that need a place to recreate that are not being provided for. I am also a skateboarder. It took many years to get the respect of cities to provide us with places to skate. The other side of the lot for instance. It should not be as difficult to get something for residence who are on the average over 30 and willing to contribute time and effort to the cause.
If any one knows someone linked to a local paper, let’s get in touch. At the Thursday meeting one individual said he was talking to someone. Did anything come of that? We need to keep everyone up to date and post on this Blog with updates constantly.
Has there been any further discussions with Markus about another meeting or if he has had communication with the County recently. It sounds like he is turning a more cold shoulder to the whole thing.

I received a response today from Derek Gade at the County(Public Works Manager) He is the individual that has been assigned to investigate this matter further (from Bill Horn’s office). I have responded to him by providing as much information as I could, linking him to the website, any contact names & numbers, etc. He will be calling back for further discussion. His report will filter back up to Supervisor Horn and the Board. Let me know if you have anything inparticular that you feel should be shared with him.

Well we got in the news but as you see it can be a double edged sword. When terms like “nature preserve” get tossed in to the mix it can become very difficult for the public to understand why mtn bikers would do something like trails on a preserve? Or how about scaring people by saying the trail was built with “rebar”. Or isn’t that a nice picture of a pile of wood with Markus walking by. Where are the pictures of the cleanest best groomed trails in the county. Markus using the term liability nightmare. When was the last time he saw trails at WHISTLER OR the ones built in the northwest from trees felled on the spot. How do all those skate parks exist including the one right next to th trail head.
